In an era where rockers unplug their guitars to bare their souls, the small but dedicated force of musicians that has always existed, intent on preserving the acoustic tradition of American music is often forgotten. Steve James has pursued the philosophy of country blues for most of his life, traveling the nation and picking up licks from first-generation bluesmen. As a result, he can play most any stringed instrument, and is a master of county blues guitar. He has an almost encyclopedic knowledge of old blues and country music, and considers himself a musical heir of strong folklore tradition. James interjects into each of his songs the color of his own personality and experiences. Steve signed with Antone's Records in 1992 and his recent CD release of "Two Track Mind" has further proven his ability to crest the sounds of blues as he believes they were meant to be heard -two track, of course.
