Though his musical roots run deep in fertile Chicago blues soil, the uncommonly versatile veteran singer/ guitarist/ harpist, Syl Johnson, is vowing to concentrate on performing soul music -- and, in the process, his career is enjoying a rejuvenation of epic proportion. "I'm a soul man. I ain't no bluesman," he states proudly. "My background comes form the blues, but when I make my records, they are soul." Bridge to a Legacy, his Antone's Records debut, is the culmination of Syl's ongoing comeback and underscores his commitment to keeping his sound soulfully contemporary.
